The zenial passages are when the sun passes directly over-head. They are only found in tropical areas in the low altitudes of the Mayan cities. The Mayan’s often took note of them and recorded their exact positions relative to the equator. They often predicted where the next zenial passage would be because the zenial passage overhead represented god to them. This is one thing that the Mayans figured out. Zenial passages happen two times a year. This contrasts western civilizations astronomy because they were not concerned with zenials.mayan_cosmos.jpg
